上英语课好久了，感觉自己还是有些提高的。这次Instructor给我们布置了一个Homework，每个人选择一位美国President，然后讲讲这位总统的生平事迹等等。我选择了37th President Richard Milhous Nixon。好多同学都是把他们准备的材料贴在漂亮的硬纸版上，我家里什么材料都没有，我就选择用PowerPoint做了。虽然也准备了好长时间，但是到演讲的时候，很多人名地名还是不能发音准确，不过这也是一次很好的锻炼自己说英语的机会。而且Geri总是给你一种信心和勇气，觉得美国的老师特有耐心。 

Richard Milhous Nixon (January 9, 1913 – April 22, 1994) was the 37th President of the United States, serving from 1969 to 1974. He was the 36th Vice President of the United States from 1953 to 1961, in the administration of Dwight D. Eisenhower. Nixon is the only person elected twice to the offices of vice president and president, and the only president to have resigned from the office of president.

Nixon's foreign policy as president was marked by détente with the Soviet Union and the opening of diplomatic relations between the United States and the People's Republic of China. His centrist domestic policies combined conservative rhetoric and liberal action in civil rights, environmental and economic initiatives. As a result of the Watergate scandal, Nixon resigned the presidency in the face of likely impeachment by the United States House of Representatives. His successor, Gerald Ford, issued a controversial pardon that cleared him of any wrongdoing.
